Recognition

Sam is a national mediator, consultant, speaker, trainer, and author on conflict, negotiation, and mediation.  He has consulted and spoken to medical, insurance, legal, business, and faith communities.  Sam has been at Bunger and Robertson for nearly forty years.  He has mediated 5,000 cases and tried dozens of jury trials to verdict in state and federal courts.  He currently limits his work to keynote addresses, consulting, and teaching.

Sam teaches Negotiation at the Indiana University Maurer School of law, where he was awarded the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award.  His students practice and negotiate around the world.

The kinds of cases Sam has tried and mediated include construction failures, catastrophic injuries, class actions, professional malpractice, commercial, condemnation, and gaming disputes.  He discusses these and other issues with wide-ranging audiences.

Sam’s speaking, consulting and teaching takes him around the country. He has mediated, consulted, and spoken from New York to Los Angeles and from Montreal to Miami.  Sam has been recognized locally and nationally for his work.

In addition to his undergraduate degree from DePauw University and his law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Sam received advanced training from the Harvard Program on Negotiation and the Strauss School of Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. As mental health issues have increasingly taken a spotlight in most professions, Sam is willing, when asked,  to talk about thirty years of sobriety and his path to recovery from addiction.

Sam lives in Bloomington, Indiana with Patty, his wife of forty-one years, and an array of cats and dogs over the years.  They have three daughters, three sons-in-law, and seven grandchildren.
